…his appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any human being and his form marred beyond human likeness.
Adam was beautiful, made in the image of God, but he marred and corrupted the loveliness of God’s creation with his disobedience. All for a piece of forbidden fruit.
Jesus, the second Adam, gave up his heavenly glory to become a man, to be beaten, struck, crowned with thorns, impaled with nails, tortured, pierced and disfigured. But more than all this, Jesus allowed himself to be utterly marred beyond human likeness – to become sin. All for us.
