I will praise you for ever for what you have done… in the presence of your saints.

Psalm 52:9

Perhaps the key word in this verse is ‘forever’. When David contemplated all that the Lord had done for him, the list seemed endless. It’s the same with us, isn’t it? Will we ever have enough time to enumerate everything that he’s done for us, whether in our private thanksgivings or in collective praise with our fellow saints? How appropriate are the words of the hymn: But e’en eternity’s too short to utter all thy praise (PHSS:156 – J. Addison). Nothing gives us greater pleasure than praising our wonderful Lord and Saviour, and, even better, such praises bring boundless pleasure to our great God.
