And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.
1 Corinthians 15:17
One of the definitions of ‘futile’ is ‘empty and worthless’.
That is precisely what our lives – and our future – would be if Christ’s resurrection had not taken place. Our Christian lives are worth living only because the One in whom we have put our trust, and upon whom we have pinned our future hope, is the risen, glorified Lord. As Paul went on to exclaim, for as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive (v22).
Thank God that we have been made alive in order to serve a living Saviour!
