Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

James 4:14

The context of James’s question was preoccupation with planning tomorrow’s activities, without considering the Lord’s will. ‘Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself’’ Jesus had said (Matt.6:34). As we’ve no idea what a new year might bring, or when the mist of our lives will vanish, is worrying about the future the best way of spending our time? Instead let’s fill our days with the, good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do (Eph. 2:10).
