“Be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.”

Leviticus 19:2

Here’s the key verse of Leviticus. The book is sometimes described as, A guidebook for holy living for the Jewish people, and ‘holiness’ appears 152 times. Of course, it’s not just for the Jews. We too serve a holy God, demanding an appropriate standard of behaviour from us. Chapter 19, in the ESV, is headed ‘The Lord is Holy’. This is key. 15 times in this chapter, particular instructions are followed with the words, ‘I am the Lord’.
Whatever we do let us always remember just WHO we are serving. As Paul reminds us, you are not your own, for you were bought at a price (1 Cor.6:20).
