So, the chief cupbearer told Joseph his dream. He said to him,
In my dream I saw a vine in front of me.
Pharaohs butler could vividly remember the details of his dream: the vine, its three branches and the clusters of grapes. The vine held the key to Josephs interpretation and pointed to a hopeful future, restored to serving his king. The Lord says of himself, I am the vine and you are the branches. (Jn.15:5) He goes on to explain that our fruit-bearing is conditional on our abiding in him.
We have been called to serve a far greater King than Pharaoh; and can look forward to years of fruitful service if we obey his simple command, abide in me.
