But while he was still a long way off,

Luke 15:20

The picture this conjures up in my mind is of an anxious father trying to focus his binoculars on a distant figure, in the hope it is his long-lost son! Apart from the binoculars, this is pretty much the picture painted by the Lord in this lovely parable. Its lesson is clear. However far we stray, our Saviour’s love is never out of reach if we truly repent. It’s an old-fashioned word, ‘repent’; but it’s meaning hasn’t changed! Nor has its need as a pre-requisite to forgiveness!
We may be ‘out of sight’ to our Lord but we’ll never ‘be out of mind.’
