My speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.

1 Corinthians 2:4 (ESV)

Paul was a well-educated and erudite man, an undoubted intellectual, able to put his case as plausibly and persuasively as anyone. Yet when he preached the Gospel, he didn’t try to develop any profound reasoning of his own. He relied totally on the Holy Spirit. That way his words carried the unmistakable ring of truth, being spoken in the power of God, not based on his own prowess. How wise he was!
We may not be able to match Paul’s intellect or eloquence, but we CAN imitate his reliance on the Holy Spirit.
