Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb.

Mark 16:2

How impatient they were to get to the tomb to anoint their beloved Master! They’d spent a rather sad and gloomy time preparing the spices for their task. They were apprehensive as they considered the obstacle presented by the great stone they had watched being rolled into place to seal the tomb. However, as the rising sun dispersed the darkness, it revealed an empty tomb: obstacle removed, doubts and fears banished, spices redundant, hopes rekindled, joy transcendent. Christ was risen!
Isn’t that how we feel this morning as we gather to remember a risen Saviour?
