…the Son of God, who loved me
and gave himself for me.
Paul was obviously deeply moved by the sacrifice of the Lord. He uses the phrase, he gave himself 5 times. He gave himself for our sins (Gal.1:4); as a ransom for all (1 Tim.2:6); to redeem us (Tit.2:14); and finally for the Church: Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her (Eph.5:25).
How can we not be similarly moved when we consider the intensely personal nature of his tremendous sacrifice? He loved ME and gave himself for ME!
