Some women were watching from a distance. these women had followed him and cared for his needs.
What a wonderful tribute is paid to these women, they cared for his needs! And what a wonderful privilege they enjoyed. He no longer had material needs for them to provide but they had followed him to Jerusalem nonetheless; and remained with him loyally to the end. They watched through those hours of darkness, waiting while Joseph and Nicodemus took his body down from the cross and placed him in the tomb. Only then did they go home – to prepare spices to anoint him. Faithful to the end, they richly deserve the accolade of Scripture. What will be said of us and our discipleship?
