My beloved is radiant and ruddy, outstanding among ten thousand.

Song of Songs 5:10

In the eyes of the bride, her beloved was ‘radiant’. When John saw the Lord on the Mount of Transfiguration, his face shone like the sun (Matt. 17:2) and reflecting on this experience at the start of his Gospel he exclaimed, we have seen his glory. (Jn.1:14). Years later, on Patmos, he wrote of his vision, the hair on his head was white like wool, as white as snow (Rev.1:14). As believers, we too can see God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ, (2 Cor.4:6) and share with John this captivating view of our radiant Beloved.
