While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!’’

Matthew 17:5

The lesson that the three disciples learned that day was unforgettable. ‘Listen to him!’ They also saw his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth (Jn 1:14). Peter wrote in later years, we were eyewitnesses of his majesty … for we were with him on the sacred mountain (2 Pet. 1:16-18). As we enter God’s presence, let us bring thoughts of the glory and majesty of his beloved Son. Let God see that we have ‘listened to him’.
