We sent Timothy, who is our brother and God’s fellow-worker in spreading the gospel of Christ.

1 Thessalonians 3:2

What a wonderful way for Paul to describe Timothy, as ‘God’s fellow-worker’! Mark notes at the end of his Gospel that the disciples ‘preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them’ (16:20). When we are preaching ‘the gospel of Christ’ we are not working alone, nor just with our fellow disciples, however joyful such fellowship in service might be. No, we are ‘God’s co-workers’ and it is ‘the Lord’ who works with us. Amazing isn’t it? We don’t just work for him, we work with him!
